From Dream to Reality: Crafting Your Perfect Destination Wedding!

Don’t Know What To Expect for a Destination Wedding?

Planning your wedding can be hard when doing it close to home. Your wedding day is one of the best days of your life, and you're ready to do anything to make that happen. But before you imagine the destination wedding of your dreams, you should first take some time to learn what to expect when planning your big day.

You might be wondering how to even pull off a big destination wedding or how to take the first step in planning your destination wedding. Let me ease your mind a bit. It isn’t as hard to plan a destination wedding as it seems. Keep on reading and find out more information on how to make that process much easier than anticipated.

How much money should I expect to spend?

Let’s get straight to the point here. Right off the bat, a destination wedding will not be cheap. It will cost money. And money always takes a big part in planning anything. Here are some things to keep in mind when planning: set your budget. Keep in mind that the estimated cost for a wedding falls between $35,000 to $40,000. Although this is expensive, this goes for the venue, the lodging for the guests, as well as making sure everything you may want is included in your destination wedding.

Do I have to know the Destination right away?

With so many places to choose from, which one screams ‘your dream wedding’? Do you want a beachfront wedding? Do you want to be inside but have the sun shine through your venue? It’s important to take note if this will be a comfortable location to travel as well as your guests to not have any setbacks.

How long should I take to book my Venue and Vendors?

Once you find your perfect setting, you will need to book a venue about 10 months in advance. When planning your destination wedding, there will be options to choose from for your wedding. There are family friendly venues and affordable options for the venue of your choice.

Since people plan a destination wedding, there may be an easier way to plan your venue and your vendors. They offer wedding packages! These packages include the venue, wedding cake, catering/bar service, photographers, florists, the officiant, and a wedding planner! It’s like you're getting the full package without going through the hassle of finding individual vendors yourself!

Do I need a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is not necessary when planning your wedding because you could do it yourself. However, to help with the stress, it would be helpful to get yourself a wedding planner. They are there to bring your vision to life without having to go through the process yourself.

Who pays for the lodging of my guests?

When planning your destination wedding, keep in mind that your guests need a place to stay. And it could be different for you, they could pay for their hotels but usually the couple who are getting married pay for those expenses. You and your spouse have to sleep somewhere as well. Other than lodging, the travel from your home to the destination does cost money and that is also another asset to keep in mind.

Does it matter what dress I wear?

When you’re out buying your dress, don't make the mistake of buying a dress that won’t be suitable for your wedding.. Customize your dress so it suits the weather and it will make you able to move around as well as not hold you down on your special day. Also, for your guests, it will be helpful for them to know what the weather conditions are for that weekend/day so they come prepared to dress down. No matter what dress you choose, you will look amazing!

When should I let my guests know about the wedding?

I would recommend 12 weeks in advance. Once you have the location and the date set up, you should let your guests know ahead of time so they can also manage their time so they are able to call off from work, get a babysitter if needed etc. It is important to get them on the same boat rather than them not being able to show up because they were not informed ahead of time.

Check your Passports!

When traveling outside of the U.S, you need a passport. Also, do the research with the other countries and find out what their requirements are to ensure that you are able to travel there and back. Also, inform your guests about the requirements (if needed).

With this information that you received while reading, it doesn't seem chaotic once the information is in front of you. Also, make sure to reach out to all vendors and the venue about 6 weeks from the wedding to confirm all details to make sure everything is set and stone. It comes down to the tiniest details to confirm to make sure that the day is set to be on time. I hope this helps you take a load off your shoulders and you are able to plan a perfect destination wedding!
